LITERACY
--A major sponsor of and fiscal agent for Montevallo Reading is Fundamental (RIF) for students in K-1 at Montevallo Elementary School. Seeking funding to ensure sustainability of program.
--Financial literacy workshops
--Computer workshops

--Matching funds for collection development projects and technology upgrades, including laptop computers

PROPOSED:
--Sponsorship of Dolly Parton Imagination Library for Montevallo-area children from birth to age 5.
--Health literacy workshops, in cooperation with the Montevallo Community Garden.


THE ARTS
--Children's Summer Theatre Workshops for elementary school children (2007-2011), usually held in July. Made possible by PMLF with additional support from the Linda P. Cicero Children's Fund (2007) and the Support the Arts License Tag Committee (2008 and 2009).
--Teen Theatre Workshops (2007-2009 and 2011), with partial support from the Support the Arts License Tag Committee.

--Organizational member of the Montevallo Arts Council, the nonprofit organization authorized by PMLF to coordinate and oversee the Library Gallery exhibits.

NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
--Nature Camp for Children for a week in June for the past four years (2008-2011), usually held during the first full week of June. Funded by the Linda P. Cicero Children's Fund for Nature and Art. 
--Expansion of the collection of children's books about nature and enhancement of the children's area of the library. Recent example: Painted murals by Montevallo artist Debbie Sullivan and child-sized furnishings and decor, all inspired by the work of artist and children's writer Eric Carle. Made possible by the Dr. Philip Beasley Nature Fund donated by Joan Beasley in memory of her late husband.
--Cataloguing the Parnell Collection bequeathed to the library by the late Dr. L. C. "Foots" Parnell. Made possible by the in-kind support of the University of Montevallo's Carmichael Library, especially Archivist Carey Heatherly. See "Parnell Collection."

PROPOSED:
--Library landscape redesign to manage stormwater and control erosion on the library grounds and  create a beautiful, eco-friendly garden and learning environment.  Being designed by the Fockele Garden Company. The Foundation will seek funding for implementation.
